What is the Novavax COVID‑19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted (2023-2024 Formula)?
The Novavax COVID‑19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted is a protein-based, non-mRNA vaccine for COVID‑19. It’s based on well-established technology that’s been used before in other vaccines, like those for the flu, hepatitis B, and whooping cough. Hundreds of thousands of doses of the original Novavax vaccine have been given to people in the US and in countries around the world to help protect them from COVID‑19.
Single dose
If you are 12 or older and you've been vaccinated before with any COVID‑19 vaccine,* a single dose of the Novavax COVID‑19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted is given at least 2 months after your last dose of a COVID‑19 vaccine.
If you are immunocompromised, you may receive additional doses of the vaccine. Talk to your or your child's healthcare provider.
2-dose series
If you are 12 or older and you have not been vaccinated before with any COVID‑19 vaccine,* 2 doses of the Novavax COVID‑19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted are given. The second dose will be given 3 weeks after the first dose.
CDC recommendation
If you are 65 or older, the CDC recommends that you receive an additional dose of a 2023-2024 formula COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after your last 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose.
You can get the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine regardless of which COVID-19 vaccine you received previously. Talk to your healthcare provider.
*"Any COVID‑19 vaccine" refers to a monovalent or bivalent COVID‑19 vaccine.
